Clay Necklace. | WritingMonique
July 2, 2014

Lately I have some fancy events on my schedule, what means that I took the oppertunity to shop for some new, fancy, evening dresses. I found the most adorable ones online, but I needed a little something to make the outfit my own. Something persona and a little uniquel. And what says personal more, than a homemade necklace.

Supplies Needed:
- Clay (FIMO clay)
- Necklace, chain

FIMO clay is easy to use and will only ever harden once you put it in your oven. It’s available in many different colors, but I used white (the middle one is unpainted), and used paint to color the other two beads. This was the first time I ever worked with clay, not counting all the times in kindergarten ofcourse, and I am really proud of the result, although (one day) I would love to make more geometric shapes.

While making the beads, pay attention to creating a hole for the chain. You can easily do that with a pencil or a pen. Don’t put the necklace in the clay before heating, that way the jewelry piece will probably melt to the clay and you won’t get that playful loose hanging feeling anymore.

Dress For A Wedding.

One of the events on my list is a wedding. I love weddings but I find it so hard to choose what I will wear. You want to look beautiful, but you can’t overdo it. If you know what I mean. Online I found www.Victoriasdress.co.uk, which is a lovely store full of amazing dresses who (luckily for me) aren’t at all that expensive, but then the next problem skips in: I can’t choose.

I love these dresses, and I think the necklace will look gorgeous on all of them. The first one is beautiful, I love the color and the length but my only concern is that maybe it looks a bit to much like a wedding or bridesmaids dress. The second and last one are beautiful, but the colors are a bit darker then I am used to wearing.  I just don’t know which one is the most appropriate for a wedding of a lovely friend.

Which dress do you prefer?

This necklace is so beautiful! It definitely adds that personal touch, and no-one else will have one, but I bet everyone will be asking you just where to get one! ;)

It definitely is hard to strike the balance for a wedding. Regarding the dresses I prefer the middle one, it just seems to be more eye-catching but in a subtle way. Whichever dress you go for I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding and enjoy yourself <3

I would go for the grey one! Not to dark and not to light. The necklace would look great with as well =)

Love that necklace, what a great idea. The fact that you made it yourself adds such a unique and personal touch.

Lovely necklace Monique. I agree that the first one looks like a bridesmaid’s dress, yet I love it the most.

Congratulations on the outcome of the necklace, you’ve got some skills there! Out of the three dresses, my favourite is for sure the middle navy dress – it looks as close to perfect as a dress could possibly BE! Have a great weekend :)

Great job on the necklace, I love handmade jewellery like this. It always looks so unique. I can see where you’re coming from when you say the first dress looks like a bridesmaid dress, but I have to say it is my favourite. I love the style and it’s such a pretty colour :) xx
